The original Ready 2 Rumble was released as a launch title for the Dreamcast, and met with positive critical acclaim, despite appealing to a small fanbase. Shortly afterwards the game was released on the PS2 and N64 and enjoyed a measure of success through those consoles also. Now Nintendo plan to release another updated version of the game for the Wii, Ready 2 Rumble: Revolution, and has the potential to reach a whole new audience.
Skill and precision was the name of the game for Ready 2 Rumble, as the gameplay revolved around emulating not just the punches and attacks of a boxing game, but also the skills of ducking, jinking and weaving. Shoulder buttons were specifically given over to ducking and weaving, creating a skilled and precise gameplay element. The addition of the Rumble meter also rewarded the skill and precision of your attacks, charging up to a potentially destructive knockout punch.
Obviously the main attraction for bringing the action to the Wii is the utilization of motion control, allowing gamers to hone their skill and endurance as they play through round upon round.. A few fun extras have been added, such as the chance to create your own personal boxer, with new features and parts being unlocked as the game progresses. Also returning are the training and exercise mini games used to enhance your boxer between fights.
Ready 2 Rumble: Revolution looks set to combine all the elements that made the original such a sleeper success with the revolutionary Wii controls to make the next gen fighting package we've all been waiting for!
