HAWX Swoop In!

Military themed games have come a long way in the past few years, and a lot of that is owed to the name of Tom Clancy, whose games masterfully blend FPS action with the intrigue and operation of covert missions.

As time has gone on, the style of the Clancy games has become more refined, to a point at which each new game is highly anticipated for its keen attention to detail and immersive military action. And it seems that he's not stopping there, as Ubisoft are set to release his newest creation, a combat flight simulator titled HAWX, this Spring. Intending  to take HAWX to a new level of realism, the developers have utilized a number of new features and skills. For example, land graphics have been carefully modeled after detailed satellite data of the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Africa, giving rise to a game supported by realstic and accurate settings. With around sixteen reputed locations, HAWX is set to include a groundbreaking level of detail.

Some nifty and skilful touches have been added to the gameplay, involving heightened options for evasion. These range from jinking, dummy flares and even a shipbound smart computer, predicting favoured paths for your escape. This computer, called Pilot Assistance, is a good installation for introducing newcomers to flight simulation as it provides a lot of assistance early on, hopefully your skill will increase quickly however, as the PA is not intended to nanny you throughout the game, and becomes a target for the enemy as the game progresses!

Set to feature online gaming options, including both co-operative and competitive gameplay for upto eight players, HAWX is shaping up to be quite an impressive package. Couple this with the renowned gameplay and assured attention to detail, and HAWX is a game you should definately pick up for your Xbox 360, PS3 or PC!
