Countdown to Mytheon
Mytheon is an upcoming game announced by RPG giants Petroglyph, which they claim will combine elements of the Action, RTS (real time strategy) and MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) genres. The company have decided to base their game on popular and widely known Greek mythology, allowing for a rich and immersive ethos to be applied to their take on the ancient civilisation.
Combat, exploration and expansion is handled through a Power stone system. Differing factions and classes of people have access to different stones, which can be used to create buildings, summon powerful energies and spells and epand your empire.
Mytheon is set to entertain all the usual features you'd expect from a MMORPG, including themed battles, single player campaigns and PVP combat, usually within areas or in pitched confrontations. With a rich and immersive storyline, Mytheon promises to keep players hooked with a range of specific game events and sidequests. Although no monthly subscriptions have been planned yet, certain additional content is planned to keep players hooked, but which will come at a small price. This can be used to customize your characters or to shell out for key items that would otherwise involve a lot of effort to get hold of.
There's a lot still to be worked out for Mytheon, although current word is enough to make MMORPG fans more than excited for a late 2009 release!
