When considering which next gen console might be best for the young ones in your family, the Playstation 3 usually comes last on the list. The calibre of games released onto the system usually cater for the older gaming demographic, and so Sony lose out to obvious favourites Wii, and also the Xbox 360 to a degree, when it comes to appealing to a younger, more family-friendly dynamic. However, the system should not be ruled out entirely, as hidden throughout the mass amount of games, there are a few gems that are great for the younger audience.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is an obvious first choice. Kids love Star Wars, and all kids love Lego, and this package brings together all previous games in the Lego Star Wars pantheon. The gameplay is fun, adventurous and easy to get to grips with, whilst the online mode allows gamers to meet their friends for an interactive battle. This game is a must for fans of both franchises!

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction is the first in the series to be officially sanctioned for players below 10. Now, don't get worried that previous games were violent or inapporopriate to any major degree, it's just that certain elements of the gameplay have been reworked, allowing for a much simpler and straightforward style, whilst maintaining the overwhelming fun we've come to expect from the series. The most fun element to be found in ToD is definately the weapon's level up system, which allows players to augment the various guns and ammuninition they acquire to create new concoctions.

Finally we have LittleBigPlanet, which revolutionised home gaming to give us a title that broke all barriers and collected numerous gaming awards. Most of this is down to the level editor system, which allows players to create entire worlds as they see fit, loading them online for the wider community to experience. This may sound complicated, but it's actually very easy and extremely fun. LittleBigPlanet truly is a timeless game, as the possibilities on it are only limited by the minds of the players themselves. Children especially will be spellbound by the seemingly limitless possibilities the game can offer!
