Nintendo 64
The Nintendo 64 was released in 1997 as the
powerful successor to the SNES, and battled for popularity with the Sony Playstation. Taking its name from the 64-bit
processor within the video game system console. However the system still ran on cartridges as
opposed to the more up to date discs of the Sony Playstation. This quirk did nothing to reduce the quality
of the N64’s games however, which were often cited as being superior in quality
to any competition of the time.
Another advantage of the Nintendo 64 was the
incorporation of four joypad ports as opposed to the usual two which allowed
gamers to play multi-player games without the need to purchase additional
multi-taps.
